Toucans, Tapirs and mainland

Toucans do like peanuts

Tapirs are phlegmatic, funny and cute animals

In Belize, most of the time we spent on the Cayes, hopping from island to island, but tropical mainland is interesting too.
Belizean national proud - Toucan, Tapir and Jaguar live in Mayan Mountains. We had no luck and we didn't spot Jaguar in his natural habitat. They avoid people.
At least we bumped into troops of Howler monkeys (Baboons) in Bermudian Landing.
Second time we went to see them, we brought them cashew nuts and papayas, but they were too anxious to grab the goods, so we were just howling at each other.

Northern Highway

Southern Highway

There are 2 paved roads in mainland: Northern and Western highways. Other roads are unpaved.. Especially Southern highway is brutal dirty, but you are in the jungle and it's fun and enjoyable.

70% of Belize is covered by forest with precious woods like Mahogany Tree. They grow in Maya Mountains or Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve.
Belize has mountains, forests, waterfalls, cenotes and jungle rivers. It also has over 600 Mayan ruins - mostly unrestored.
We visited ruins of Xunantunich on Guatemala border and pretty towns like San Ignacio, villages Placencia or magical place Hopkins Village.

We fell in love with Belize and scuba diving and we enjoyed every moment there, and not only Toucans and Tapirs are cool, people were nice too.
We've been following national elections and a joy of the people, when People's Unity Party won over United Democratic Party. We didn't care about politics that much
so we could celebrate with both parties.
Places like Caye Caulker and its atmosphere, Tom's hotel, The Ocean Side, I&I bar are unforgettable memories.
