"Your trip is save !
Captain Buck will take you there !"

There are 170 islands in Belize. Most of them are tiny, like Goff's Caye or our favorite: Tobacco Caye. On most of the islands you won't find a grocery store, on some of them you won't even find people.
Belize has the largest barrier reef in the northern hemisphere. The reef is protected and is full of life, so diving or snorkeling is a real treat.

At the beginning of our trip in June, when we were exploring Baja in Mexico, we were really excited when we saw dolphins for the first time as they were coming to the bay in front of our "cabaņa" every evening. Then we were making fun of it, that we couldn't sleep, because the dolphins were making all kinds of noises all night long. God damn dolphins!
But the truth was -  we loved it!

In Belize, dolphins and other animals become a part of the daily life.

As we were hopping from island to island, we enjoyed watching dolphins, manatees, flying fish, lobsters, crabs and playing with stingrays and nurse sharks.
We enjoyed chasing barracudas and tarpons - both huge fish. The first time the big adult tarpon looked at us, we almost peed in our swimming suits
(if we had any... but it'd be OK anyway, because you can relax and do these kinds of things in the ocean).
To see a shark is always a thrill, but we've learned from Peter: "If you don't bother them, they won't bother you".

                             Goff's Caye

The picture on the left is Goff's Caye. Nobody lives there.
There are islands like Caye Caulker, where you can find 600 people,
but there are Cayes with a population of 1 person or none.

Tobacco Caye (pop. less than 20 + visitors)
is the place where you wanna relax and snorkel.

You won't find any stores here, but natives can cook for you.
The ocean takes a lot of energy, you will get hooked for the sound of the bell, which rings at 8 AM, 1PM & 6 PM that food is ready.

And you don't wanna be late!

"Your trip is safe! Captain Buck will take you there!"
The assurance from the local hustler, to make us feel at home around the local bridge in a hustle town of Dangriga as we were trying to arrange a trip to Tobacco Caye.

We laughed our asses off. Local Captain Buck and trip to Tobacco Caye is safe!
Next morning, we've realized he really exists! We have met the famous Captain Buck and he took us to Tobacco Caye.
We were safe as a bug in a rug and after 2hours at rough sea we and everything was wet as wet could be!
