From the top of Citlaltépetl

The Blue Hole

Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta.
Co-Co, Co-Co Rum. I lost my money belt in Placencia. Show me your motion!

These songs we used to hear, sing and dance during our stay in Belize.

Uh, lobster agaaain?!  And Banana Bomber?
Well, it doesn't get any better than this.

"Belize da fu we" (I am Belizean too) or "Belize. Every other place sucks"

These slogans on T-shirts that natives wear with national pride.
Pretty soon, we've found out why..

We saved the best for the last - The Blue Hole.
It is a magnet for every scuba diver.
The Blue Star, in the beautiful turquoise Caribbean.

Nearly 300m in diameter and 144m deep, the hole was first discovered and explored in the late 1980s by Jacques Cousteau.
On September 5, 1998 it was also discovered by us as we were freefalling into depths of 41m, where the enormous pressure and the increased nitrogen in the body makes you feel a bit funny. In those depths you can explore mind-blowing formations and swim below an undercut canyon, believed to have been a land cave 10,000 years ago. Even though, postcards advertise that the hole is a favorite hangout of Hammerhead sharks, we believe most of the sharks that hang out in the hole are from Nurse family. On the way down we met 2 huge adults, which were calmly swimming 15 meters below us.

The Blue Hole was one of many beautiful locations in which we dove. Once we hit the Cayes (islands), we wanted to be underwater as much as possible; if not diving with others, snorkeling naked.

Coral, Angel Fish, Sea Horse, Stingray

We were buddies and we had to Buddy Check

     Zdenka's falling into depths

Actually our first diving experience started in a swimming pool in the Regina Hotel in Baja California, Mexico. Since we tried it in the pool, we knew we were hooked. It was love at the first sight.

But before we could dive depths, we had to learn how.
We met Peter from Scuba diving school in Caye Caulker
and we got certified as PADI Open Water Divers.

Jose, Peter & Zdenka in the morning

This was our regular morning session:
José with wheelbarrow helped us with our things and
Peter took us out to the blue.

If you wonna learn to dive,
you don't want anybody, but Peter..

In Belize, we have visited the islands of Ambergris Caye, Half Moon Caye, St.Georges, Sargeant's, Laughing Bird, Goff's and our favorites: Tobacco Caye and Caye Caulker.
Among cool people we got to know since 1.day was
Dreadlock Rasta Ashe

Ashe           Prince
